We were chatting with our neighbours the other night. They run the dairy farm we live on the edge of. A nickname that they've got for the block of fields that we live in, which is bounded by about 5km of roads on all sides, is the Emerald Isle. It stays green long after other areas have browned off in drought. Friends of theirs, farming even very close by, will have harvests happening two weeks earlier than usual and will have completely different rainfall patterns. Oh yes. Our corner of Devon, still sort of green-ish but starting to look autumnal already. Cool places to hang out in the garden Apple mint around our pond has gone absolutely crazy this year and is in full flower now. It is really noisy this morning with bumblebees, hornets, and covered in butterflies and flies, with the occasional hummingbird hawk moth. I was going to cut a load of it back, but this is just too good.
